NYSD: Ducks Overcome Lundqvist, Rangers

NEW YORK – With the Giants winning and the Mets getting Johan Santana, it’s easy to overlook what’s bad in the New York sports world. The Knicks and Nets have both been horrible with little end in sight. And the hockey teams haven’t been much better. Even the New York Rangers, who were coming on, but couldn’t follow though this week with two bad games at the Garden, including last night’s loss 4-1 to the Anaheim Ducks. “You are not going to win games by working hard,” said coach Tom Renney. “You are going to win games by having poise and composure, whether you are winning or losing.”

Rangers Super Bowl Picks

After the 2-1 win over the Devils, I was able to poll a few Blueshirts on their picks. While some didn’t really follow football enough to give a pick, others fearlessly forecasted a Giant win.

Here are the results:

Henrik Lundqvist: First went with the Pats 24-15, but then changed it to Giants 32-24

Jason Strudwick: 24-14 Pats

Fedor Tyutin: Giants 24-21

Stephen Valiquette: Giants 24-14

Dan Girardi: Giants 30-21

Scott Gomez: Giants 28-17

Tom Renney: Giants 26-23

Oh What A Sunday

Giants at Philly. Jets working for a win and now the Devils are at the Garden to play the Rangers.

Winners of nine in a row, New Jersey finally caught on to Brent Sutter’s system and have been killing opponents.

And the Rangers, looking to break out of a three game losing streak, need a win.

Marty Brodeur always plays great at the Garden, while the Rangers need to get Henrik Lundqvist back up to speed after a forgetable week and a few days off.

And because the game is at 5 p.m. you can watch it in peace because the Giant game will be over.

BTW six minutes left, Giants up by 3.
